Dierdre Patterson is a self-taught abstract artist working primarily in painting and sculpture. Originally from the Seattle area, now based in Tacoma her intuitive artistic practice allows form and color to unfold naturally allowing her hands to lead the way without pre-sketched compositions or predetermined palettes. This approach allows the artwork to reveal itself to and through her inviting a dialogue between the abstract and the tangible. Through the exploration of concepts of proportion, rhythm, and structure Dierdre uses color, form, tension, and balance as tools to convey a language of joy, warmth, and calm, emphasizing the value of emotional resonance in place of traditional narrative storytelling.
